James Hitchmough

James Hitchmough is a Professor Emeritus of Horticultural Ecology at the University of Sheffield. Over his time at Sheffield, James and the postgraduate students whose research he has directed have accumulated an impressive amount of data on creating ecologically-based plantings, with a real focus on growing plant combinations from seed. James is however, firmly convinced that such planting should always have ‘the wow factor’. With Nigel Dunnett, and Sarah Price, he played a key role in planting design for the 2012 London Olympic Park. He has retired to Somerset, where he is creating an exciting new garden.
