Overview

Noel talks us through the conception and planting of this major new public garden, a large part of which uses a substrate based on post-demolition waste with a plant mix chosen for heat and drought resilience; it also incorporates several swales and a long woodland edge habitat zone. He’ll run through some of the key plants he chose and outline the planting strategy, and discuss how he sees the long-term development of the various plant mixes. He also stresses how important it is that we do not get too fixated on low-fertility substrates – the vast majority of planting situations are anything but!
