Piet Oudolf

Piet Oudolf is a Dutch garden designer who has designed some of the world’s most iconic contemporary gardens, including New York City’s High Line and the Lurie Garden in Chicago. His hand-drawn planting designs have been celebrated as works of art in their own right.
Piet has been a garden designer all his life but was an innovator from the start; in the 1980s he and his wife Anja set up their own nursery as they could not source enough perennials from the established nurseries. His design work and the nursery, were central to the revival of interest in perennials and ornamental grasses in The Netherlands and the English-speaking world. In 2013 Piet became the first garden person to be awarded the Prince Bernhard Award for a contribution to Dutch culture.
