“It’s all about the gardeners, not the gardens”, says the blurb for the Chelsea Fringe, thought up by journalist Tim Richardson back in 2012. Modelled on the Edinburgh Fringe, as a funky, innovative alternative to the ‘establishment’ Chelsea Flower Show, this event has proved a great success, with individual events happening in a number of locations internationally in May. We talk to Tim about the event, what’s happening this year, and how he keeps it going – uncurated and unsponsored.
