Sandra Lawrence

Writer Sandra Lawrence, whose study of Ellen Wilmott received much acclaim has recently brought out ‘Lost Gardens of the World’. She ‘visits’ nearly 50 gardens which now only exist as ruins, memories or shadows of their former selves. It’s a story of creativity, loss but very often rediscovery and renewal too. We talk to her about researching the book and about why we are so fascinated with vanished gardens.
