Ridge Lane in San Francisco is one of those urban cut-throughs we all know, a bit scuzzy and neglected. But Nahal Sohbati and Eric Arneson of Topophyla, a young design practice working in central and southern California, was able to work with local residents to create a safe, attractive and biodiverse environment. Nahal and Eric tell us the story as well as talking more generally about their practice and about garden and landscape design in the state is adapting to drought, climate change and the massive growth in awareness of issues around biodiversity and native plants.
