Lucy Sutherland at the National Botanic Garden of Wales

Garden Chat Archive

Lucy is the Director of the youngest national  botanic garden in the British Isles. We talk to her about her career, her love of ‘big sky thinking’, and the garden – which features the world’s largest glasshouse; its first plants contributed by none other than Noel ! (Who’ll be doing some reminiscing here). After some troubled early years, the garden is now well-established, and is a prominent part of Welsh national life, with a strong education programme and a real sense of engagement with not just with plants but the nation’s ethnobotany.
