Jack Aldridge at Wisley’s Oakwood

Garden Chat Archive

Oakwood is the historic core of the Royal Horticultural Society’s garden at Wisley, established in the late 19th century it was inspired by William Robinson and has been managed in a broadly naturalistic way ever since. We talk to Jack Aldridge, a young member of the Wisley staff who took over Oakwood a year ago. We discuss the pragmatic balance between natives and introduced species which makes this what Noel thinks is one of the most interesting garden areas in Britain.
