Alex New – Pioneering on chalk

Alex New is the Curator at Highdown Gardens in Sussex. Created originally by the distinguished botanist and plant collector, Sir Frederick Stern, this is a treasure trove of plant diversity, all the more interesting for being in an old chalk pit. Alex talks about the collection, and how he and his staff are involved in the conservation of the plants here, and in exploring Stearn’s archives.
